Cooler is smaller.
Scheduled for launch next month (March 2010), Indian Godrej - a brand not so well known in the West, but massive in Asia - has announced the world's lowest-cost refrigerator, the Chotukool.
Weighing 7.8kg, the refrigerator uses a cooling chip and fan alongside high-end insulation, meaning that the appliance uses half the power of a conventional device and can also be run from a battery.
At a price of c.$69 (£45), the Chotukool also costs around 35% less than the cheapest refrigerators currently available.
Obviously ripe for developing nations, and fair to say good demand in westen student dens, singles and first base flats.
